I'm still trying to sell ZAP to my customer. (sigh!) He likes the product, and asked me how much it was. I tried explaining ASSETS etc to him. I told him the price, even mentioned a huge (50%) discount for quantity. He said for his 21 vaxes in 6 clusters, the cost became so high, that he could hire a full-time person to go and physically throw people off the system and still save $$$. So much for Banks ! :-) p.s. it's agreat utility - I like it a lot.

If your customer balked that much at the price, then you overpriced it. The beauty of selling ASSETS ois that your local manager sets the price. Period. Whatever it may turn out to be. You do not have to follow the "recommended" prices, etc. That's what "recommended" means, not cast in concrete. As an example in our area we sold the FTSV utility as a quantity sale to a major customer with about 100 nodes for about (my estimate) 10% of what the straight price*n would have been. Made the unit mucho bucks of PURE REVENUE, and customer was very happy. Rethink your pricing and try again. Do whatever is right to get the sale.
