Following a very good suggestion (I hope!) I am placing the attached query here that I posted in the OASSETS conference. Any comments on ZAP running under VMS V5? Cheers! Andrew ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <<< OAXTRA::DUA1:[NOTES$LIBRARY]OASSETS.NOTE;1 >>> -< ASSETS FOR THE OFFICE MARKET >- ================================================================================ Note 224.7 ZAP - Solution Tool 7 of 8 VAOA01::COATES 14 lines 10-JUN-1988 16:41 -< How about V5? >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RE .6 I have been told by people more knowledgable than I that ZAP will probably not work on V5 (something to do with changed data structures and priviledged code, etc). We have a customer very interested in purchasing but I'm hesitant to recommend using ZAP if it has a lifetime of a few months. Is there any work being done/ planned/ even thought of in terms of an idle process monitor compatible with VMS V5? Cheers! Andrew

52.1 | ZAP V3.8 under VMS V5.0 | NRADM::MACONI | The Doctor | Mon Jun 20 1988 11:01 | 15 |
ZAP V3.8 does work under VMS V5.0 I have tested ZAP V3.8 as follows: A scratch installation of VMS V5.0 was done and the ZAP V3.8 kit was installed. ZAP V3.8 worked without any errors. A VMS V4.7 VAXcluster was upgraded to VMS V5.0. ZAP V3.8 was already installed on the VAXcluster and it continued to work without errors after the upgrade. ZAP does not "poke" around in system space. It uses standard, supported system calls to obtain all of its data. Keith Maconi |
