Hi folks, I was pointed to this conference by a note in the ALL-IN-1 Version 2 Notes conference. I had a chance to copy over ZAP and WHO, and both these product sound neat !!! However, I have a major question. Can I give this product to a major customer (with lots of potential future business). This customer is one of our "showcase" accounts in the district. They have in the past had 1 to 3 software residents on-site at the same time. They are currently field testing about 4 different products from DEC. I'm a software resident who had his contract extended by another 8 months, so I plan on being here for a while. The customer is aware that support for this program is only available through me. Your program is recommended as a replacement for WATCHDOG. What I'm looking for here is: Official blessings, to give this program to my customer ?? Whichever way, please respond !!! Thank You in advance... Jon... (VAXmail address - CHEV02::RASLAWSKI or 34838::RASLAWSKI)

I do not know the Corporate Policy reguarding the distribution of software that was developed for internal use only to outside customers. It should be noted that the current release of the Zap software is not a field test, nor is it free of known bugs. Also, the use of any idle process deletion utility on a heavily loaded system can cause more problems than it will help. If you would like to obtain more information about the possible release of Zap to outside customers, please contact me either by phone at DTN: 297-5744 or VaxMail address MRMFG0::K_MACONI. |
