    Did anyone pop down to the Bristol HiFi Show this past weekend? For
    those that did not, here is a brief rundown of the main events (IMO).
    
    . Pioneer were demonstrating their new "low cost" recordable CD machine;
      a snip at �1300.
    
    . DVD was being demonstrated. Being a laserdisc owner, I was very
      interested in seeing what DVD is capable of. The quality is very
      good - certainly comparable to laserdisc. Players should start
      appearing later this year.
    
    . AC-3 (5.1 Dolby Digital) was being shown off by many companies,
      including Linn and Meridan. 
    
      The Meridian system (based on their existing 565 THX processor) was
      astounding.
    
    . Linn were demonstrating their new range of full-width A/V products,
      including an active isobarik subwoofer, full-feature AC-3
      decoder/preamp and 5140 speakers.
