Does anyone know the cause of the following problem: I have a Marantz CD52 II SE which is noisy. The noise is a high-pitch noisy tone which is audible when you turn on the player with no CD playing. When I turn up the volume on the amp to about 6 or higher it can be heard quite clearly, on both channels. When I switch the player off, the sound is gone. I also have attached another (Philips) CD player to the same input via the same cables and this one is quiet. Does anyone know the cause of this? Dirk.

I had a very similar problem with my first Rotel CD player. The engineer from the shop said it had a noisy DAC ! They sent the player back to Rotel and it was replaced. The Engineer explained what the cause was, but it went straight in one ear and out the other, but I do remember that this was only a problem with some bitstream DACS. Iain. |
