Whats DAC 7 ?
DAC 7 is Philips' best Bitstream chip, I believe that they are selected from
the normal production as being closest to spec.

| I've got a Marantz 72 but can't really give you a 'review' since it's
got a Trichord clock in it and I run it with a DAC-in-the-box. I think
it sounds great, but what's 'great' ? I can say though that it's old
technology now since it uses the CDM4 Philips transport and newer
players use the CDM12. You can still get 72's cheap from end of line
suppliers and it's got to be a better bet than a Philips 9 whatever.
Even a Marantz 52 would be a better bet.

| The 72 has coax and optical digital outputs. I'm not sure about the 52
but it's got at least one. A Trichord clock is an anti-jitter
mechanism. See ELESYS::AUDIO 2220.18 onwards

511.6 | Philips CD-951 - what transport ? | WARS::JERZYNSKI | Zygmunt JERZYNSKI | Wed Mar 29 1995 10:25 | 6 |
| Yet another question on the Philips CD-951:
Does anybody know what type of transport is used ?
