465.0. "CD storage advice required." by KERNEL::CBANKS (UK CSC Basingstoke) Wed Jan 12 1994 10:26
The trendy way to store CD's these days seems to be what they call "CD
TOWERS", I was considering buying one of these as they make reading the
edge labels nice and easy, however a colleague pointed out that the
recommended method of storage (as with LP's) is vertical rather than
    horizontal.

I can see how LP's with soft covers, high density and liability to
warping could be damaged by horizontal stacking but CD's have hard
cases and therefore are themselves under no strain. In their cases they
are supported similarly to how they are in the transport mechanism.
In the CD tower they are separated from each other so the height of the
    stack does not matter.

Does anyone have any more info on this or recommendations. Obviously a
CD collection is valuable in more ways than one and storage systems can
    be expensive.
