| I have seen one but don't know what they sound like. I expect it will
be positioned as a replacement for the Intek.
It uses a remote that will also drive CD players if they use the
Philips RC5 code, which most Philips-based machines do. It can also
operate as a remote slave amp in a Kairn-based multiroom system. It
seemd a very well thought-out beast.

442.2 | I saw it in live-93 | KERNEL::LEIGHA | Andrew Leigh, UK CSC Basingstoke | Mon Sep 20 1993 19:04 | 15 |
| Dave,
Tke majik-i is an integrated amp about 30 watts per channel which is remote
controlled. It looks like the replacement for the intek, pretek and powertek
amps. It has a line out so it can be run as a pre-amp and it can take
the as active card so perform part of an active system.
The interesting aspect of its design is that it has a slot for 'sneaky' modules
which allow for future upgrades. The first 3 'sneaky' modules will be the knekt
line driver, knekt line receiver and the kudos tuner.
I believe its remote is interchangable with the more expensive remote supplied
with the Kairn.

442.3 | Perhaps the first to own one in the UK... | KERNEL::HOGGAND | | Mon Nov 08 1993 09:33 | 13 |
| Well, I finally dem'ed this amp over the weekend. I was impressed
enough to buy one (serial # in the low 50's!).
What really stunned me was that the Majik-I, an integrated amp costing
600 pounds, sounded better than a Naim 32.5/110/SNAPS combination IMO.
Now this could be that I now bi-wire the Keilidhs instead of single
wiring or that I have moved the speakers slightly further away from the
walls, but it is a substantial improvement.
