    A general question.....

In respect of specialist/hi-end retailers' services - NOT the products
    the stock.....

    1. What would you like them to do better?
    2. What would you like them to keep on doing?
    3. What do you think they should be doing in 5-10 years' time?

Are you planning a new venture? I am sure N. Yorks could do
        with some more good dealers.
I suspect Hi-FI dealers will have tough times as the cost of
stocking/ deming all the new A/V and computer related goodies
        will be enormous.
Also I read the kids buy computer games not music anymore so
will there be future HI-FI customers coming into the market?
        I hope so !
I have two good dealers locally who do the right things .
I suspect we will see fewer specialist dealers as more of them
        migrate to a general a/v /computer dealer.

     re .1...

Rodger, I must declare an interest. I have been a customer (victim!?)
of the Sound Organisation in York since they opened up, and I had the
wit to spend some Christmas overtime booty on an LP12" instead of a
    holiday!

The proprietor (Hamish) and I were in a boozer in York one night,
generally moaning about the state of the world and the lowering of
standards that comes with the commoditization of everything in sight.
We eventually got to talking about parallels between the computer
industry and the hifi industry, and what we (Digital) were doing, and
he got interested and asked if I could help give the shop a shove.

    That's why I asked .0
