Can I just buy some litte 1 inch spikes then, and have them pressing
onto the felt on the table, and the other end into the speakers?
If so do all hi-fi shops sell such little spikes?
Cheers,
Greg

| Don't know about all Hi-Fi shops but places like ``Chris Brook'' and
``Sound Advice'' etc probably do.

| Greg,
I've got some decent (FOUNDATION) wall mounted speaker standfs which we
could come to some arrangement over if you like. These are basically
speaker brackets, but are ultra rigid and have spikes as well. mail me
if you're interested.

| jives,
Your vaxmail is in infinite loop, STILL!!
Would I have to screw these to the wall, or could I just place them on
the tables and rest the speakers on them?

| Just wondered down Tottenham Court Road, and came across a hi-fi store
selling little pyramids, to do just what I want, shame they cost 18
quid for 8.
I'm off to a DIY store to make something similiar!!

You might do better at your local ironmonger's.

| MR Ives came up with a great suggestion:
Buy some running spikes, then screw them into nuts, and hey presto
instant cheap spiks. About 10+ spikes cost me 1.99!!

why spend a fortune on lumps of sorbothane when the company that makes
it will send you a lump for free with their brochure !!

i phoned them up and asked if I could be sent some literature,
expecting that you could buy from them direct rather than pay
Audioquest type prices. The bottom line is you can't, but one two
previous occasions they have sent me samples which were big enough to
do what I wanted anyway. The last one is helping to damp vibrations
caused by the 1000 RPM spin cycle on my washing machine, which used to
wake me up when run at night. no more !

OK, so what's sorbothane?

402.13 | ah well ....... | LARVAE::IVES_J | One i-node short of a file system | Mon Mar 15 1993 14:55 | 11 |
| sorbothane is one of a number of trademarked 'rubbers' (oh err missus)
which claim to have spectacular energy absorbing proporties.
This makes them good choices for sport shoes inserts, rifle stock
recoil pads AND decoupling pieces of audio equipment from
vibration/shock.
The MISSION ISOPLAT is essentially a board of some sort sat on four
hemispheres of sorbothane. AUDIOQUEST sell a set of four feet for
putting under CD players. Both of the above retail for circa #30.00

| Well I was so impressed with these little speakers I bought some for
upstairs to play my computer games and listen to CD's through.
Must best price/performance shelf speakers around IMHO.
