I'm coming to the end of the stock of reel-to-reel tape that I bought
some years ago.
Are there any shops in the Basingstoke area that sell it? Reading/
Southampton/Guildford is about as far as I'd want to travel for a
special journey, otherwise I'll wait until I'm next in London.
I'm looking for Maxell in the following types and sizes:
UD 1800' 7" reel
UD 2400' 7" reel
XL I 1800' 7" reel
XL I 3600' 10.5" reel
Names and addresses of any suppliers will be gratefully appreciated.
I'd also be interested in recommendations for alternative
manufacturers. Although I'm happy with the Maxell products it's about
10 years since I selected them and I'd like to hear of any technical
improvements since then. My machines are a Sony TC377 2 track and a
Tascam 34 4 track.

TOP-TAPE outlets used to do it.
Perhaps a request in the 'home-studio' notes file might also be useful?

Top Tape definitely do it...as they advertised in December's What hi-Fi
magazine.
If you let me know where you're based, i can let you have details of
outlets etc.

Now a few years have passed since the last note, anyone any idea where
I can get hold of 10.5" reel to reel tapes for my lovely Technics 4 track.

I can help with this if you still need some tape. I stock only
BASF - the best anyway and they retail at �15.00 + VAT for 2400ft reels
of 1/4" tape. Call me on 7830-2716 up to 16:30 or evenings on
01344-425200 (I run an audio cassette duplication and blank cassette
supply company - Angel Talk Limited - during my own time). I hope soon
to start being able to create CDs.
