As I happen to be at home, I just looked at the Hi-Fi Choice review
summary for the Cyrus II, and they seemed to like it a lot. I think it
is likely to do well with the Mission speakers, as the amp is probably
on the bright side and the speakers are probably a bit on the dull
side.
The PSX gives you a bit more power, but I think it makes more
difference if you're using a moving coil phono cartridge. You could
always get the PSX later...

377.2 | MORE ON CYRUS | MUNLEG::SCHNUETTGEN | | Thu Oct 15 1992 11:41 | 13 |
| A question from Germany:
I'm considering to buy a Cyrus I or II (without PSX), but I need two
connect two pairs of loudspeakers and the Cyrus only allows one pair.
However, there are adapters that you just plug into the speaker connection
and that allow you to switch between Speakers A and B.
Can anybody recommend such an adapter or would the sound quality suffer
with such an adapter?
Greetings from Munich,
Rainer

QED make reasonable speaker switches. The problem is that over time
the high currents flowing through the switch will degrade the quality
of connection and therefore the sound. This is why many amps come
without speaker switches and headphone sockets.
If the speaker switch eanbles you to enjoy music by listening where you
want to, then buy one. If it's just a very occaisional use, then don't
do it if you want to retain maximum sound quality.

I used a QED speaker switch box for about three years, no real problems
that I could hear (which doesn't mean that there aren't problems, it
just means that I couldn't tell! =;*)) ).
One problem that I had was that the speaker cable I was using - some
sort of flat 79 strand - wouldn't actually fit into the terminals on
the switch box...so check first that the terminals are big enough etc.

Landwehr( The strasse going up to St.Paul's Church)) sells a 4 speaker
switching box for 60DM....works just fine.....

377.6 | worth it | WEOPON::SYSTEM | | Sun Oct 18 1992 12:36 | 11 |
| re: .0
I thought the PSX was well worth the money I spent on it, particularly
because, as Clive suggests, I had a MC phono cartridge. Trouble was,
when I heard how well the Cyrus II sounded, I started to listen to
other pre/power amps and settled for some Naims.
Overall smoothed out the rather dry sound of the Cyrus II, although I
couldn't detect much difference on CD...

| Last week I listened to the Mission 765 and the 763 series but
unfortunately , was not given any specification about these speakers. I
am new to the Hi Fi world and would like to know more about these
speakers. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Did they sound good...and can you afford them?
What more do you need to know?

377.9 | Mission 765i & 763i | ZPOVC::THOMASLEONG | | Thu Dec 23 1993 09:19 | 7 |
| The specification I am referring to is the impedance. What I heard was
that the Mission 765i was connected to the AV amp Denon AVR 2000 which is
100w/pc. The model 765i sells for S$1500 and the 763i sells for S$690.
Also I do not know what are the wattages of these speakers. Hope you
can help.
Thanks in advance.
