349.0. "Is "Hi Fidelity" dead ?" by LARVAE::IVES_J (Bad Karma in the UK) Tue Mar 10 1992 14:47

has anyone seen the March edition of Hi Fidelity magazine ?

It looks to me as if this title has bit the dust, which I normally find
a reason for celebration ( as long as it is'nt HiFi News !).

however according to last months edition which appears to still be on
the shelves in large numbers, this months was to have a review of NEW
CD players from Roksan,Mission, Orelle and Creek, and I was rather
    looking forward to it.

    Thanks,

this months (April) audiophile has review of the Mission, creek,
Ariston and Roksan CD players. This was what i wanted HiFidelity for .

the Roksan player got a really good review, and that styling ....wow !

I sat in on a demo of the Roksan CD player, DAC, a PS Audio preamp and
Roksan power amps driving Neat Petite speakers on slate audio stands.

Listening to rock/R&B the sound was great. When it was used to play a
Mozart piano quartet it was less convincing. A lot of this could have
been due to the supporting equipment, but I have no experience of an of
    it so can't really comment.

Demo was taking place at the shop near the 'clink' on the south bank of
the Thames. I think it was the "Sound 'something'" or another such
    name.
