343.0. "Mini systems" by CURRNT::KING (I'm afraid you've got cows Mr Farnsworth) Mon Feb 03 1992 12:29

    A friend is interested in buying a small (dimension-wise) stereo system
    so I suggested one of the mini systems which are all over the shops
    these days. Has anyone heard/seen/any comments on these?

    Chris.

    I read a good review of a yamaha system which is very small and uses
    their new system for getting more bass (active servo something. This is
    the system they do which has a unit the size of a clock radio which is
    CD player, amp and tuner all combined. the speakers are flat(ish) the
    size of a large format paperback. The review in HiFi choice said it was
    extremely good. I don't have any mags with me but Yamaha have been
    advertising it fairly heavily

    Ta for the reply...

    I didn't end up getting a mini as all they were mostly over the price
    threshold! I finally settled for a bottom of the range Kenwood in a
    midi arrangement but in a single box. Not much room for upgrading, but
    it does the job for the person who wanted the stereo.
