Hi there, Has anybody out there purchased a LINGO power supply for their LP12, if so what improvements has it made and would you recommend this upgrade for the LP12. I recently spoke to a dealer in Glasgow.. (HI FI EXPERIENCE) and he said that once he had listened to the LINGO for a couple of minutes he could not go back to listening to a VALHALLA'd LP12 again!!. I am thinking of indulging and would appreciate any feedback. The arm I use is the AKITO which will be upgraded to an ITTOK as soon as finances permit. Which would be the better upgrade the LINGO or the ITTOK or BOTH!?. Hope its not both or I will have to remortgage the flat!! Seriously though if the improvements in sound merit buying both then thats what I intend doing. Thanks in advance for any feedback.... regards, Neil.

Any Linn dealer worth the name will demo a Valhalla LP12 with Ittok against a Lingo LP12 with Akito, so you can decide. All the pundits say you should buy the Lingo first, but check it out for yourself first; remember the Lingo cost is about 2x Ittok cost. In spite of what the press and your dealer told you, the Valahalla LP12 was a giant killer anyway, especially with an Ittok on board. Having said that, I found the Lingo wonderful, but it took several auditions before I took the plunge - I am using an Ekos/Troika on my LP12. All the sweeping statements about not going back after two minutes make me very sceptical, but then I'm an old cynic! Dave

Like Dave I use a LinnGo in an Ekos/Troika LP-12. I really like what the LinnGo does to a LP-12 but the difference is not at all immediate. Its not like the difference between a Basic and an Ittok where the bass tightens etc. It just sounds (much) better. For my money I'dd go for the LinnGo and forget the Ittok. The Ittok may be a very good arm (in deed I've had two !) but the new Akito is really very good value and I don't think that the Ittok is worth the extra cash (Even in this LV-III form). Much better to either stick to the Akito or go for a Ekos (But this is obviously ``sell tha family silver time) But of all things go along and listen (A few times).

I upgraded from a Valhalla/LP12/Ittok to an Ekos and then a Lingo. At my first demo I though the Akito'ed Lingo LP12 was better than an Ekos'ed Valhalla LP12 with a greater degree of control and even detail. Having owned the Lingo for some time now, I certainly don't regret going to the Ekos first though. |
