| There are 2 versions, the Cyrus I and the Cyrus II. Both are characterised by
a clean, open sound, not particularily dynamic, but very rewarding.
The Cyrus II has a much better phono stage, especially when upgraded by the
optional PSX power supply. This adds an extra punch and clarity. Well worth
while. I also had a PCM II Mission CD player which took input from the PSX
as well...

| I used to0 have a cyrus I (old style - circa 1986) and generally was
pleased with it though it was a little too bright for me coupled with
an old philps cd104 14 bit player. having said that though that was
about as bright a front end as you could have got though.

312.3 | Rotel, Adcom could be good | ZPOVC::PARRYCHUA | Singapore, Life is bid-$-fine | Wed Oct 02 1991 07:25 | 10 |
| I think Cyrus I should be good enough for your small speaker. You can
mono block with another Cyrus I later. Unless you listen to LP, else is
no point to get Cyrus II.
With the similar price, you may want to consider the Rotal. Or go
seperate amp ike Adcom 535, Rotal 850 etc. They sound good too.
I think that Cyrus is a bit too bright.

I would give Audiolab 8000A II a vote.

312.5 | CYRUS needs good care of placement | TROOA::SLEUNG | | Fri Nov 01 1991 18:07 | 8 |
| The Mission Cyrus Amp are amps with good definition, image and punchy
too in terms of the 30w per channel the Cyrus I quoted. But as most
listener's comments said, its "bright", due to the fact that its an amp
with exceptional resolution; of course for this price, and speaker have
to be placed on good spiked stands and carefully positioned in the
listening environment, then you make get a nice HI FI system for less
than HK$4000.00 with the Mission 761 included too! That's a bargain for
the sound and quality listening the combination can offer.

312.6 | try an LFD! | CHEFS::GERRYT | | Thu Jun 29 1995 17:10 | 6 |
| How about the LFD Integrated zero amp about 500 pounds.
Sounds smooth and refined, but with good detail...perhaps better than
the Naim and Audiolab.

312.7 | Or maybe wait for CYRUS IV ? | VAGORA::WOOD | | Fri Jun 30 1995 10:59 | 4 |
| And if you're still indecisive after four years, you may like to know
that there is now a CYRUS III which is winning awards all over the
world !

Sorry, I must have mis-read, for a moment I thought you said...
...better than a Naim.
Impossible :-)
(from a bit of a Naim fan)
