Keeping a low profile after the "Are Linn Over Hyped" . . .
Just how good is this Pioneer A400 Amp ? Does anyone have one. or
has anyone auditioned it ?

I haven't heard it, but I was in a shop about 4 weeks ago, and the
owner said that they'd had an A400 in (they do Pioneer car systems, but
not HiFI, usually), and hated it. He reckoned that there was a large
amount of hype surrounding the product, which I don't really want to
repeat here, as it's probably libellous !
Still, that shouldn't stop you from trying one out...

Interesting. reminds me of a certain dealer who used to keep one
deliberatley knackered rega 3 in order to persaude people to buy
A.N OTHER turntable.
Still I'm sure this is all mainly hype.

A400 Any Good ?
Well here's my impressions through Cyrus 780's.
Clean , Dynamic and Articulate. - Am I reviewing the speakers or
the amp ? Who knows ? I'm no expert but the AMP in this combination
works for my ears.
Give it a try ...
I auditioned against Cyrus II ... Not much to choose between them in my
opinion. Pioneer got the vote because it fitted in with the rest of my
system better. Try the new improved Marantz XXXX? Reviewers seem to
think this tops the Pioneer in most configs and for most music types.
I'm not disaapointed with the Pioneer. It s made a world of difference
to my system.

The latest HFNRR has a short review of the A400 as part of the series of basic CD systems they are putting together - seems quite good. | |||||
