| Mark,
I had a D6-C (Play + record Pro WM). This thing was *packed* with
bits. I wouldn't recommend playing with it (Bit of a Pandora's Box).
As the WM has had the *same* fault 4 times now it could easily be
deemed ``Unfit for Purpose'' and as such you are legally entitled to a
full refund. I'd wander down to your Sony Centre one more time (Or try
there HQ (Basingstoke ?)) and mention the words Citizen Advice Bureaux
to them. This usually gets things fixed PDQ.

although I think they'll pass you on to their repair people somewhere
else.

| Thanks,
Do you still think I have a case? I bought it in December
1987 at a duty free shop. Impressed by the sound, and the 30
discount.
It went wrong after a week, I returned it for repair in the new
year. I needed it repaired another two times, each time it came
back with the speed stability problem. I've not really used it
for two years (because it was unusable), and have never really
been motivated to get it repaired.
What do you reckon?
Mark.

| I doubt you'll get anyware with the CAB but Sony like to be ``Seen to
do the right thing''. So a plesant letter to someone at Staines *may*
just work - I've known stranger things.
Good luck,

| I sent a letter to Sony, soon after the last note, and got the reply that I
should send it to a Sony service centre.
I've only just got round to sending it out to a service centre, and they have
sent back an estimate of 96. I am unwilling to pay that much, and so I am
trying to get Sony to contribute to the repair.
They have said that I require some details of the failed repairs, and some
proof of purchase. I'm going to try & dig around, but am not optimistic about
what I can find.
Do the panel think it is worth spending 96 on repairing a 160 6 year old
Walkman. Will it be better than a 100 Walkman today?
The Walkman is virtually unused, so shouldn't be at all worn.

| From what I remeber the DC-6 is a play-only version for the universally
praised R6-C (??? you know the one I mean). I use to have one of these
and it was in a different league from over Walkmam (or most (non-Nak)
cassette decks for that matter).

| I'm not sure that the DC-2 was in the same league as the DC-6 or R6-C?
I'm still undecided about whether it is worth it. Sony were pretty
negative when I rang (I haven't kept proof of purchase or repair).
If I remember reviews of it, they said that it was very good, but not
the best of the bunch.
What players are there in the market now for about 150?
Mark.
