Hi Quaddies!
Situation: Quad II valve power amps are starting to get scarce
along with their valves.
Question: Do any of you have recommendations for replacements or
equivalent valves and their cost and performance?
I would appreciate you writing the source of purchase with
phone/fax #. Also any experience using these power amps with speakers
other than the early Quad electrostats.

Hi Jeff.
Check the small ads in HFN/RR for sources of valves for the Quad II.
There's usually 2 or 3 in each month, and they do mail order.
Of course, Quad would be able to go over the whole box for you, valves
included. They still support anything they ever made.
As for other speakers, if they'll drive Quad ELSs they should drive
almost anything! They may be incompatible in respects other than the
basic electronic ones, though.
