120.0. "small Sony CD ?" by SHIRE::GOLDBLATT () Fri Sep 01 1989 13:59

    I saw a compact Sony CD player, the CDP-S107, which is less than
    1/3 the size of the "standard sized" CD players and about the same
    price as the "full-sized" Sonys having the same functionality.
    Does anyone know about this one ? Is its quality of construction
    lower because of its size ? I didn't get a chance to hear it, but
    is it likey to have a poorer sound quality due to its size ?

    I have not read a review of this player, but sony players seem to
    get fairly good reviews in general. Regarding sound quality, I would
    guess that smaller size means poorer sound quality since analogue
    and digital boards will be in closer proximity and so interact,
    also the size of the power supply will be reduced I would guess.

    Having said all this Technics do a discman which is supposedlyb
    a good sounding machine irrespective of size.I guess this does'nt
    really help. All you can do is have a listen and compare against
    a full size version.
