Has anybody built there own passive pre-amp ?
I have been experimenting with using a bourns 100k log pot, with
some succes, but would appreciate any suggestions/advice. I'm using
a CD63 into radford sta15's.

Yes I built one.
When You have a look at note 84 I was sad about the sound of my
speakers.
I experimented a lot then and finally found the Problem:
It's the QUAD 34 Preamp !!!
What I did then was: I unsoldered the Volume Poti ( 50 k ALPS, I
think linear ! ) went by cable out after the 1. amplificationstage
of the QUAD ( so I'm able to switch the inputs and there is only one
OP in line), connected to the Poti, built the Poti reverse into the
QUAD and soldered my QED Cable to the Poti as outputcable for the Poweramp.
It sounds real GRAEAT !!!!!
The harshness in the heigths is gone, homogenous picture, 3-D Imaging
much better... I really love it.
And the QUAD 34 looks like never touched...
