87.4 | Connecting CD to Radio Cassette | KERNEL::ROSE | | Sat Jul 01 1989 06:14 | 30 |

I have a large radio-cassette which has Phono input sockets and
also a DIN Input/Ouput socket. I have a CD player which I have tried
to connect up to it.
It works O.K. when I have the leads from the CD connected to the
DIN socket but the switch on the Radio-Cassette has to be in the
RADIO position otherwise the sound is very distorted. The only problem
is that with the switch in the Radio position is allows signals
from the Radio to come through at the same time as the CD and you
get interference.
I phoned a local Audio shop to see if they would be able to do anything
(I was hoping they could modify the PHONO input sockets) but they
said they can't do anything. I have no electronics experience myself
so I wouldn't know where to start.
I have seen the wiring diagram on 87.0 but I wouldn't be too sure how
to go about it. Perhaps I should take a printout of it with me to an
audio repair shop and ask them if they can modify my Radio cassette
PHONO input sockets or make a box which I could plug the leads into
and then take two leads from it into the Radio cassette.
Can anyone suggest anything. I don't particularly want to get another
amplifier as it is only used in the Bedroom.
Thanks
Trevor
