65.0. "What's lurking in YOUR record collection?" by MEREK::CARPENTER (Ones own brand of coolness) Wed Dec 21 1988 14:17

I've been thinking about adding this note for some time now, so here
    it finally is.

This is your chance to discuss what sort music you subject your audio
system to and how that type music influenced your choice of components.

    Stephen.

Well, I like all sorts of music :

    Country and Western!

Seriously though. I like progressive rock (ie anything now played
by people over 40!) This includes Pink Floyd, Genesis, and King
Crimson. I like decent modern music like Thomas Dolby, The The and
Talk Talk. I like loads more stuff.

The music hasn't influenced my HiFi really, but I do find that my
tastes have broadened. Maybe that is because the impulse records
that I buy generally sound nice on it.

I do like music that shows off the HiFi, and generally find Thomas
Dolby, The The, Clive Gregson & Christine Collister, Van Morrison,
Michelle Shocked, Roger Waters, etc. really show it off. I can
recommend "Hot Sauce" on Aliens Ate my Buick by Thomas Dolby.

    Cheers.

    Mark.

Well, I subject my speakers to the Jesus and Mary chain a lot.
Much of the sound is feedback generated by the group.

On my old Sanyo, when I play this loudly, the speakers loose a tiny
bit of volume and are consistantlyquieter than when they were new.

Seriously, will this sound damage my speakers, currently wharfdale
    diamond Ritz's.
