    using from the shift kitchen.

    Don't get me wrong, It does not affect me
    and I don't really care one way or the other.

I don't remember the shift kitchen ever supplying sugar. So I am assuming that
the cost was in supplying milk. A pint of milk, skimmed, semi or not costs
around 40p per pint. That is about 120 pints a week. Or 17 pints a day.
Could we not just reduce the amount of milk stocked in the fridge, instead of
cutting the supply completley. Of course this really does depend if anyone
actually cares wheather the shift kitchen supplies milk or not.
