918.0. "B34000 closed?" by COMICS::CORNEJ (What's an Architect?) Wed Mar 26 1997 09:23

    On the way in to Basingstoke today I half-read a sign saying that the
    B3400 (Worting road?) will be closed between some dates. Does anyone
    know exactly which piece is closed, and when?

    It's the bit between Roman Way, under the bridge, past the trading
    estate/snooker club etc, down to the roundabout.

    Diversions via Roman way, the Ring Road, Town centre roundabout etc
    and vice versa.

    Should be only for a few days, although they have allocated a month or
    more for the closure. I think the official reason is bridge repairs.
    Probably to fix damage by oversize vehicles, or maybe Railtrack is
    doing some work on top and they won't risk dropping a sleeper onto the
    road.

Thanks Brian,

Well - if it goes on for long after the Easter break it will cause long queues
on the A339 from Kingsclere - the roundabout at the top of Roman Road will
give priority to the diverted traffic.

Cheers,

Jc

    I think this is now complete - the warning signs seem to have gone.
