We're thinking of taking our 9-year old son out of his present Junior School as we're getting more and more dissatisfied with the school - can anyone recommend good Junior schools in Brighton Hill or adjacent areas? /Mark

Three days into the Summer term, and another 'incident' has occurred: The Headteacher, without any help took my son's classe for games, issuing nearly 40 eight-year-old children with wooden Hockey Sticks. The ensuing injuries that we know about, as related to us by our son, whose upper arm was hit and is bruised and swollen, include: A girl whose front tooth was knocked out, A girl hit on the eye, A boy hit in the privates, and subsequently they started to bleed, Another boy hit badly on the forehead, Even a boy off the field of play, because he forgot his kit, was hit. Apparently the boy whose privates were injured, and who drew it to the attention of his class teacher was dismissed without treatment with a 'you'll be alright...' Suffice it to say, our confidence in the Head has reached its Nadir. Mark

>> Another boy hit badly on the forehead What is the world coming to? In my day, faulty technique like this, was eliminated from day 1: an almost straight arm, and follow through... >> the boy whose privates were injured... was dismissed without treatment >> with a 'you'll be alright...' That's probably what I'd say if a young chap wanted his privates inspected. Have you thought about tipping-off The Sun, or that other quality paper: The Basingstoke Gazette? /Ian

My partners 9 year old daughter goes to chalk ridge in sullivan road. We havent heard of them playing hockey yet so I'm presuming the school you are talking about isnt that one. And they've just started choir practise for the school. |
