887.0. "The GONDOLIERS are here!!" by GEM::SHERGOLD (Back in my old backyard) Mon Mar 25 1996 10:16

    			  "THE GONDOLIERS"

    			THE HAYMARKET THEATRE

Just to remind all you G&S fans, and those that aren't but would not be
adverse to a fun night out, that BAOS are presenting "The Gondoliers"
at the Haymarket all this week, starring (Well at the front of the
chorus this time) yours truely. Come and see what the beard is all
about and one of the funniest G&S shows I've seen or been involved with
    off of the professional stage.

Bring the kids to the Matinee on Saturday; they'll love it. It's only just
short of a pantomime. Just think, no smut, no violence, no bad language
(We leave that to Saturday morning TV) and they get in half price.

Chris Loane is also utilising his vast technical knowledge to enhance
the show; he is on the spot lights.

How can you afford to miss one of the best amateur societies in the
    South of England??

887.1The King and IFIXER::PARRYTrevor ParryWed Oct 16 1996 12:3813
What no mention of the latest show ?

BAOS are presenting The King and I at the Haymarket at the moment. I
went along last night and was well impressed. Sparkly costumes, great
scenery, great music, great singing and some great acting. There are
several amusing moments in what for me is essentially a sad story.
The principals are as good as ever, especially the King.

I know I may seem biased because I was a member of BAOS but this is the
best show I've seen them do (in the last couple of years).
