842.0. "Frank Bell strikes again!!" by REPAIR::SHERGOLD (A new head on the block!) Fri Feb 10 1995 17:16
Just to let all you Frank Bell fans know he will be back on stage at
the Haymarket in April starring in "Princess Ida" by Gilbert &
Sullivan. Frank is playing a fitting character role - he is one of the
Nasty King Gama's sons Scynthius (Yes honestly!) and he gets to sing a
song entitled "Fighting is my Trade"??? Those of you who still remember
me down there can try and spot me playing the Chamberlain. We have also
got another Deccie (Down at the Crescent) in Melanie Such playing
Sacharissa (Lovely names aren't they?)
Basingstoke Amateur Op. Soc. is presenting this wonderful pastiche of
women wanting to be "Educated". Because of the modern state of women's
education (They invariably do much better than us men) most of the old
G&S jokes are turned upside down and therefore seem just as funny. They
are subtle though, so do not expect to get hit on the head with them.
The show starts Tuesday 4th April and finishes on Saturday 8th, when we
also have a matinee. Why not get up a party and give Frank a bit of
hassle, a few boos would not go amiss. Book now to avoid the
rush.........
