803.0. "has anyone seen bicycle repair man?" by COMICS::FISCHER (Life's a big banana sandwich) Tue Oct 11 1994 14:42

My bike is knackered. The gears are all over the place, I can only
get 5 to work. The chain scrapes against that guard thingy and
sometimes when I change gear the chain falls off, making my legs
rotate so fast they almost fall off.

What can I do about it? Where can I go? How much will it cost me?

Maybe the bike just can't cope with carrying 5 people to work at once !?!?

There was a time when, in my eagerness to please everybody, I'd have
said "I'll 'ave a look guv". However age, a backlog of tasks (roll on
retirement!) and maybe even a touch of wisdom have bred a fair degree
of reticence! I'll have a look next year maybe!

My chain falls off too occasionally. If it's when going to the limit of
one or other cog then there are stoppers that you can adjust in and out
with a screwdriver (on a derailieur, or however you spell it) such that
    you can't
push the chain right off the cog.

    Easy-peasy.
