Back to the original question - when I moved here I was in rested accomodation
for a while and our furniture was stored with Cantay (they have a depot/storage
in Houdmills) and the cost wasn't too expensive.

| Ian,
I think you'll find that there are quite a few removal/storage
firms available.
When I moved into rented accommodation about two years ago, I used
Stanley Removals (based in Aldermaston). The amount they charge for
storage is based on how many sealed containers they use to store your
belongings. I think the charge for me was something like 63 quid per month.
It was taken out of store after nearly a year, everything being
returned in perfect condition.
At the time, I received quotes from about 6 firms, and Pickfords were
the cheapest by far (they couldn't do the move on the dates I needed);
the reason being, so they tell me, is that their containers are bigger
than the ones other companies use.
Unfortunately, you still have to fork out for the actual removal costs
- from your old place and eventually to your new one!
Rgds
Harvey
