748.0. "Mug required" by KERNEL::BOWEO (Telepathy means never having to say...) Tue Apr 19 1994 18:02

As many of you may know I am taking Driving Lessons.

I am now at the point where a need practice, which at 15 a lesson is expensive

If someone would help me out by letting me have a practice in their car
(supervised of course) I'd appreciate it greatly?

	Thanks in Advance

Why the question mark?

I'm not surprised. At that age you'd have to hire somewhere like
Thruxton as you aren't allowed on the public roads. Why not wait till
17 when you can use the public roads, or try a disused airfield?

The last two replies are typical of the southern cynical me-first
    attitude.

We up north got one I.T. through his test last year, and we were
working on Olly this year, when you dahn sarf decided you didn't need us up
    north.

So have a heart and let PHH pay for some new clutches :-).

    Is not a question, it's a statement, and doesn't qualify for a ?.

"Would someone help me out by letting me have a practice in their car
(supervised of course), I'd appreciate it greatly?"

is a question, and so deserves a ?.

Anyway I hope you get a drive.

It only cost me 5.00 a go when I was learning to drive, but you could go
out for a night with 5.00, have eleventeen pints of bitter, a three
course dinner, and still have enough change for the bus fare home....

Now who would like to pick nit's out of my note ?

What time do the buses run to, or was it just an early night?
748.7COMICS::FISCHERLife's a big banana sandwichWed Apr 20 1994 15:487
What are the tax implications of letting someone else drive
my car? Presumably Oliver would be taxed at 1/356 of 35% of
market value of the car if he drove it for one day, and I would
get a tax rebate.

Ian?

Well we'd still be going when the busses started running again the next
    morning!

Also we used to live in a shoebox in the middle of the motorway and...

Surely Oliver driving a Digital company car is not authorised. Have you
checked with the insurance people? (question I believe?)

Oh and good luck trying to find a moronic mug who wants to endanger
their lives teaching you to drive, I'm sure that the offers will flood
    in.

.15 you're not old enough to play instructors tho are you?

Anyone's insured in a deccie car so long as it's legal (have licence
or legal instructor etc etc) and they have the person responsible for
the car's permission.

If I had a company car I still wouldn't be able to help because I haven't
got a driving licence.

Talk *very* nicely to a taxi driver?

Buy one with wheels and skateboard home on it?

Deal with that problem when you come to it? (someone's bound to
feel sorry for you if you just stand outside with a desk saying
you're not sure you can carry it all the way home).
