Can anyone give me any information about St Michaels Hospice in Basingstoke ? I'm taking part in a 'sponsorship' event and the monies raised will go towards the Hospice. Being an 'out of town' lass, I know very little and would appreciate a little more info. Thanks Judy

It is on the site of Basingstoke District Hospital on Aldermaston Road. It is a small building the size of a nursing home. They have 10 beds but can accommodate up to 15 if necessary. The Hospice is totally dependent on charity, no government contributions at all. There are some permanent staff and they use bank nursing staff when necessary (sometimes BDH hospital nurses on their day off). Any thing else you want to know ? tp

Many thanks for the information. Do you happen to know whether it is only for the terminally ill, or is it used for respite care, or does it specialize ? Judy
