673.0. "Seeking Accommodation" by LARVAE::MOORE_A () Sun Aug 15 1993 20:15

My wife and I are looking for a house to rent from late September
    onwards.

We would like to be either north or east of Basingstoke (Ideally,
Bramley or Sherfield) and need a minimum of three bedrooms. It should
    also be detached!

If anybody knows of anything available, please call:

    Andrew Moore on 781-1680
or at home on (0256) 842585

673.2Feedback on one of the listGIDDAY::PARSONSWhich Space Corps Directive ?Wed Aug 18 1993 04:077

Just a personal opinion of course but I would NOT use

    John Hussey rentahome 0256 762906

We used them from Aug 90 - Sep 91. Renting was OK but just try and
get back any of the deposit (and no we didn't smash the place up !).
673.4UK should introduce a Rental Bond BoardGIDDAY::PARSONSWhich Space Corps Directive ?Fri Aug 20 1993 02:1619

    Rentahome expected

    1. Professional gardner for the back garden (with receipt to
prove it had been done !)
    2. All curtains dry cleaned (+ receipt ... and neither of us
       smoked !).
    3. All carpets shampooed (sp) + receipt
    4. House professionally cleaned + you guessed it ... a receipt

Points 2, 3 + 4 had not been done when we originally moved in.

To me that was a little excessive ... and it does not leave an
awful lot out of a deposit.

Thankfully I now live in Australia where there is something called
a Rental Bond Board who look after rental deposits and who negotiate
between landlords and tenants when a 'dispute' arises. They even
pay interest on the deposit !

Err, I used to rent off John Hussey. He is a Solicitor. Rentahome is just a
    sideline.

They supplied a gardener as part of the rental agreeement, though I
had to cut the lawn. When handing over, his wife used to come and
check, (much nicer than him) and if all was clean and tidy, she
    wouldnt bother about the cleaner.

They were OK about me deducting bills from my rent, eg when I called
the gasman to fix a leak, dynarod etc.

But agreed, don't use him unless you really like the place.

    Huw.
