I moved to Basingstoke from oop north (Doncaster) & discovered that
there were few if any launderettes. I always used the launderette when I lived
in Yorkshire & there were plenty of them about. I assumed that the affluent
south had no need for them.
I was actually given an old washing by a work colleague & it's still
going strong after 9 years although you do need to prop the door shut to stop
it leaking while in use, still if I'm saving �300 who cares.

| There used to be a launderette in the housing estate not far from the
newbury road roundabout. Isn't that patch called Worting?
It was next to some shops, and was open on sundays, as I once found out when
my machine broke.

There are laundettes in the Winklebury shopping precinct (the one up
at the top of the estate ... not the main precinct)and in the popley
precinct.
There's also one in the middle of fleet (don't ask how I know this)
