I think it just toggles between the two states ... the postcode used when I
started was RG22 4DE but sometime later the alternative (RG21 4BS) started
to appear. No-one then could give me a good reason to change so I didn't ...
and I've been getting post delivered here without any problem.
Don't worry about it ... we've changed our name from Field Service to Customer
Services to MultiVendor Services [+ occasional variations en-route] without
any perceptible effect on the outside world as well ! (And I'm not even going
to mention the logo :-)

The only problem I've had with mail has been getting it from the UVO post room
to my desk without going via other people [and even other buildings!] but that
is a completely different issue ...

I queried this with reception a long time ago. The explanation was/is
that the boundary between the two post code areas runs through the
building or the area covered by the buildings + surrounds so we qualify
for both. I'm pretty sure it wasn't early April when I asked but the
answer seems strange.....

| ......just to add confusion.... I live in Chineham (yea, I know..
sad ain't it). I got a Royal Mail postcard yesterday saying that
I now have a postcode of RG24 8RD and not RG24 0RD as before.
