560.0. "Rape (the plant) - effect of" by LARVAE::SUGDEN (Schhhhhh.......) Wed May 06 1992 12:28

I believe I am suffering quite a marked reaction to rape pollen -
fairly standard allergic response: itchy eyes, runny nose, sore throat,
headaches etc. In previous years I have found that being near fields of
this plant was unpleasant. This year my reaction seems very much more.

Can anyone(who suffers similarly) in the Basingstoke area tell me whether
this year is worse than normal? How common is this any way?

I unfortunately suffered from "Hay fever" for the first time in my life
3-4 years ago, while I was training at Highfield. I have had it each year
since then, around this time of year. This year is an exception, touch
wood, so far all I've had is sneezing bouts, no sore eyes or throat.

It may be I've gained some degree of immunity from various plants/pollen!
Perhaps it is as you say less common this year. I sympathise with your
    condition.

I've had hay fever for years, and have noticed the problem with rape in the past
but this year (touch plastic worktop) its been OK. Maybe driving past several
fields of it to work and back each day has got my imunity up this year...

I no longer (touch wood) suffer from hayfever after a childhood spent
    sneezing all summer!!

But I've been really bad around the rape fields too!! itchy eyes
especially, according the fountain of all knowledge (my mum!) rape is
well known for it's allergic effects, though why this year should be
worse than any other I don't know!

What you folks need is New Era's Combination H Tissue Salts. It is a homeopathic
remedy and REALLY DOES WORK. I used to suffer VERY badly but with this I suffer
virtually no symptoms. I have passed this onto other people who have said the
same thing. It is avalable from all good health food shops.
