October the 1st saw the start of another bout of house building over in Hatch Warren. As usual, the developers are squeezing as many housing units per acre as they can legally get away with. There are plans to develop large amounts of local farm land to provide facilities (and no doubt more housing) for the increased population in the area. All in all, a giant blot on the landscape. Another thing that amazes me is the number of yellow streetlights planted around Hatch Warren. One almost every 20 feet gives the place an out of this world yellow glow, bright enough to read by in the early hours. Roll on the winter power cuts. Oh well, enough Hatch Warren moans for now. p1

On the subject of street lighting, in order to have the lighting adopted for maintenance and running by Hampshire County Council the light poles have to be a specific distance apart. The lighting is installed by the developer, run and maintained for six months by the developer and then the whole caboodle is handed over to HCC. Cheers The Street Lighting Chairman, Whitchurch Town Council. |
