Now YOU may not want to start thinking about Christmas until November, but
those Mid Hants Railway people have already started to prepare this years
Santaland, where the theme will be Alice in Santaland.
These Santa trains are extremely popular, over 42,000 passengers travelling
on them last year, and extra trains have been include in this year timetable
to cope with the demand. Booking has already started and many of the trains
will be fully booked well in advance.
Departure dates and prices are shown below. These include a steam hauled
train ride to Santaland to visit Santa in his grotto, a present for every
child and seasonal refreshments for all adults. Advance booking is essential.
Saturday 23rd November, Sunday 24th November,
Saturday 30th November, Sunday 1st December
�5.00 each Adult or Child (2 - 16)
�2.50 all babies under 2
Saturday 7th December, Sunday 8th December,
Saturday 14th December, Sunday 15th December,
Thursday 19th December, Friday 20th December,
Saturday 21st December, Sunday 22nd December,
Monday 23rd December, Tuesday 24th December
�6.00 each Adult or Child (2 - 16)
�2.50 all babies under 2
Departure times are;
From Alton Station:
09.45, 11.09, 12.33, 13.57, 15.21, 16.45
From Alresford Station:
10.00, 11.10, 12.20, 13.30, 14.40, 15.50, 17.00
So, why stand in a queue for ages in a department store with your children
getting restless when you can take them to see Santa in style.
To obtain your booking form, call the Mid Hants Railway on
Alresford (0962) 734200 & 733810, or call at the information office at Alton
or Alresford stations on any day when trains are running.
Until the end of July, I can send you a booking form, just call me on
774 6206 or mail me via All-in-1, Keith Green @NEW, with details of your
location and mailstop.

| The Card shop in town (next to the Body Shop and Lloyds/Natwest banks)
has already got its Xmas cards on display....
Bit over the top methinks....its only July for Gods sake..!!

Yes its only July, and the last date for surface mail posting to some
remote parts of the world is in September (surface mail to my in-laws
in Thailand takes 12 weeks at the best of times).
September is only 8 weeks away...
So no, I don't think it is that 'over the top' for a few specialist card
shops to have Christmas cards already.

I would have thought that one would have been quite enough - let us get
a chance to go on holiday first!!

So why not buy cards the year before and keep them until you need to
post them to wherever...
IMHO displaying Xmas cards in July is absolutely ridiculous

Ratholed to xmas cards in here (maybe this will lead to a debate as to
whether I can say Xmas or whether I have to say christmas) and into a
debate on BRs fares in Reading....
