| Plenty for all the family on Mid Hants Railway during June, with several
special events in addition to the normal services.
Events are:
Sat 8th/Sun 9th - Friends of Watercress William Weekend
Childerns day with faces on the engines, various characters
and numerours activities.
Sun 16th - Fathers Day Specials
Free travel for Dad if he brings a fare paring child.
Sun 23rd - 1960s Summer Holiday
The music, vehicles and dress of the 1960s with steam as it
was in the last days of BR steam operation. Live 60s band and
a theme of 'Roplins' Holiday Camp.
Train services are;
Saturday 1st, 15th, 22nd & 29th
2 train service - Hourly
First Train - Alresford 11.15, Alton 11.30
Last round trip - Alresford 15.15, Alton 15.30
Sunday 2nd, 16th & 30th
2 train service - Hourly
First Train - Alresford 11.15, Alton 11.30
Last round trip - Alresford 17.15, Alton 17.07
Sunday 23rd
3 train service - Hourly, then every 40 minutes.
First Train - Alresford 11.05, Alton 11.15
Last round trip - Alresford 16.25, Alton 16.50

All trains carry a licensed buffet, and refreshments are also available at
Alresford. Their is a picnic area adjacent to the up platform at Ropley.
There are railway shops at Alresford and Alton stations. Round Trip tickets
give unlimited travel for the whole day, and Family Round Trip tickets are
also available.

| Thought I better add this reply to this note ...
Your local sports & Social Club have hired the first class steam
train the "Watercress Belle" on Tuesday 11th June, 1991 and we have
spaces available for anyone who fancies a bit of nostalgia by taking
a ride on this steam train and having a five course gourmet meal on
the way.
The train departs Alresford station at 7.15 p.m. and returns around
10.30 p.m. and the cost is #22.00 per head.
We arranged this trip last year and it was most enjoyable and the food
was good too! If you are interested in coming along please contact

| The start of summer and the school holidays are both good opportunities
for a visit to the Mid Hants Railway.
Events are:

Steam traction engines, commercial vehicles, at work
and on show.
Sun 21st - Morris Day
Vintage Morris cars and commercial vehicles, and
Morris Dancers too.

| My contract comes to an end next Wednesday so unless I am regenerated on
another DEC site, I shall not be posting any more Mid Hants information.
I have therefore combined the remainder of the year into a single reply.

Sun 8th September - Bus Bonanza
Vintage buses, coaches and service vehicles on display
and in operation.
Sun 15th September - War on the Line
The railway turns the clock back fifty years to the
austerity period of World War Two. War-time locomotives,
military vehicles, equipment and uniforms help to set the
scene on the specially decorated stations. Catering subject
to rationing !
Sun 6th October - Teddy Bears Day
A special day for the family with a bear theme to the fore.
Sat 19th/Sun 20th October - Autumn Enthusiasts Weekend

| Has anubody the phone number for the Watercress line/mid hants railway ?
Or do you know if they are running weekday services on the week
starting 24th Feb (kiddies half term). I'm thinking of going to Alton
on the 28th.
