| I wouldn't recommend Manns, but I'm probably not allowed to
say this in a notes conference.

| P1 - you're right - you're probably not allowed to say that in a notes
conference..... but I agree with you - Mann & Co.... well, the less said
the better...

Hi Greg,
where are you hiding today ?
Anyway, a quick vote for Barrons - I bought my house through them and
my first thought was 'what a bunch of amateurish spivs', however they
turned out to be very effective - I'd use them again.

| From a buying point of view only, I found Parkers more competent than most.

| I'm not sure which Estate Agent you use actually matters -
its the people who work for the agents that make the difference.
I recently went through the process of selling my house and
used multiple agencies, one included Parkers (this was in
Farnborough, so I can't comment about Basingstoke).
The first chap I dealt with in Parkers was a complete moron
and I had to always chase him up to get him to do anything.
Because my situation was a lot more complicated than most and
it wasn't just a case of selling the house, this guy for one
reason or another was not doing a competent job.
I rang up the manager and complained bitterly explaining my situation
to them and threatened to take the house of their books unless
they changed the chap I dealt with. At this point, if matters
had not of improved and taken the house of the market, I would
of slagged Parkers off to domesday.
After that, I then dealt with the manager who completely changed
my outlook on them. He couldn't of been more nicer or more
helpful or more efficient. In fact, he did much more than just
his job and because of this, I am sure that is what sold the
house.
Because of this, I am singing the praises of Parkers but as I
said, it doesn;t matter which agent you use, in the end it is
the guy at the end of the phone who makes or breaks it.

| I can strongly recommend Black Horse (Gascoigne-Pees) on 479479. They
sold me a house in Kempshott last year, I put it back on the market
with them and very quickly had a buyer. Talk to Roger Wade.
Their commission rate is 2%, but I negotiated them down to 1.5%!

434.8 | BARONS ARE BEST
| HAMPS::DADDS_L | | Tue May 14 1991 10:34 | 9 |
| I moved house 2 weeks ago. I bought from Barons and sold my house through
Barons. They are a very down-to-earth bunch and extremely effective.
The best bit of all - they keep you regularly updated -more than can be said
for most!
They were excellent.
