The residents along Woods lane have always complained that traffic
coming from Brighton Hill came through too fast. This was thought to
be caused be the road being so wide at the start. Also comeing out
of Cliddesden, when you reach the wide part, I have see many a car
accelerate down the hill, and if the don't lose it at the bend, then
they hit the center of the roundabout.

    Don't know for sure though.

Another reason could possibly be because an infamous former member
of CCD in the Support Centre is believed to take her dogs walking
    along there "every day".

Reducing the width would effectively reduce her ability to do this.

.1 agrees with the reason that I heard from a resident of that road.
ie: due to local resident pressure to reduce car speeds; they actually
want the road blocked off down by the Brighton Hill roundabout.

It is meant to deter the oiks from Brighton Hill, Viables etc using it
as a short cut to the Jolly Farmer in Cliddesden.

Is that the road that joins Woods Lane about halfway up and runs
behind the Jolly Farmer? I didn't think that it went over the M3?
