Like it or not, Christmas will soon be here and if you have small children, it probably means queuing for ages in one of the stores waiting to see Santa. Why not save yourself all that trouble by booking on one of the Mid-Hants Railway Santa Specials. Take the steam train for a round trip to Santa's Grotto where the children receive a present from Santa, and Mums and Dads are served sherry and mince pies. Santa Specials operate from both Alresford and Alton each Saturday and Sunday from the end of November until Christmas, with additional services during Christmas Week. All seats must be booked by post in advance. Details and booking forms are available from Alresford Station (096 273 4200), or from me at The Crescent (Ext 4473/4476). These trips are very popular so hurry, and make a trip to see Santa a pleasure for all the family. Keith

We took our kids last year - it was great. The kids enjoyed it too. I got the impression it restored the mystery - they had been rapidly beleiving Santa was really Daddy being silly and charitable. Then we went to a railway station, climbed aboard a wonderful old steam train and dissapeared into the darkness, to arrive .... I shan't spoil it for you. Just get your tickets well in advance - its worth it! Andrew | |||||
