CHEAP CAR WANTED I'm thinking about buying a car. I'd be looking for something for about 500 pound, about the size of a Escort. I'd be intending to do some fair old distances in it, so higher MPG is more desirable than high performance. Anything which doesn't want to spend its every waking moment on the Hard Shoulder. I have somethingyou might want. A Fiat 131 for #330 ish. Needs
taxing though and a new/2nd hand headlamp. Does about 35 to the
gallon when driven hard.

I know of a MK4 Cortina Estate going for #225.
I think its 'S' or 'T' reg, taxed to Jan 1 '90, MOT July '90.
Engine-wise its very good - goes on and on, but the body is a bit
tatty. I guess the size could be a disadvantage and I don't know
what MPG it does. But if your interested, ring....
