Oh hell's bells - what happened to my note? I was sitting there
minding my own business when in the flash of a keystroke it said
'Note will not be added to conference'. Cheek. I'll have to type
it all again now. here goes ... <sigh>

Tilley Lamp. I've got a Tilley lamp - well not a Tilley Lamp as
such, apparently it isn't a *real* Tilley Lamp - but a German clone
    - but still pretty good. It's very classy and completely inoperative.
It would be awfully nice if I could get it working, but apparantly
it needs 'a pricker' - which is the little pin type affair which
pokes through something or other. but you can't get them because
they don't make them no more.

What I need is some screaming headcase to get their lathe out and
grind me one. Failing that, I need to find some dusty ol' shoppe
complete with bespectabled old gentleman who just *loves* old lamps
and might happen to have what I'm after.

Basingstoke, wonder of creation, doesn't strike me as being the
kind of place which has dusty old curiosity shops. In fact, it doesn't
strike me as having anything in particular at all. Well ok, so the
architects were on acid when they designed the plaza - but its not
them that has to put up with the flashbacks ...

So, is there anything beyond the Next's and M&S's and Sainsbury's
and El Naffo Jeweller's? I'll probably have to go to London to get
what I want. Any suggestions for same in London?

    Ta

Why don't you use a pricker from a blowlamp - designed to do the
same job, but a lot more easy to come by than a neolithic german
    one.

Alternatively, remove offending bit with the 'ole in, and soak in
meths - might do the trick

Trust an ULTRIX person to come up with a practical suggestion ...

| Try the market square at the bottom of town by the bus station.
There is acamping shop much like the old Millets shop. They will
    have what you require.

Alternatively (again), try the Boy Scouts (not in the biblical
sense though). When I dib dib dibbed, we used tilley lamps
and I'm sure they still do. Sorry don't have a contact...
