171.0. "The time zones just expanded..." by PERONI::CARPENTER (Quackis Khan) Wed Jun 21 1989 21:54

I always thought there was a 5 five hour difference between the US East
coast and Basingstoke. After reading the last few notes I find that while it is
the 19th June 1989 here in the US, it is the 21st of June in Basingstoke. I seem
to have lost a few days... :>)

Which means that noone will see this note because I entered it before the last
note in the conference was entered and everyone's NEXT UNSEEN was updated.

The fault must be on DRILL because all the machines I can get at
	here @UCG are OK !

Wrong, I'm afraid...next unseen doesn't work like that.

I always knew that we were ahead of the States. Nice to know however
that someone takes the time & trouble to check out the system clock on little
ol' DRILL.

It looks like DRILL temporarily dropped through a wormhole in space,
however we seem to be back to normal now.

This is probably a reflection of the fact that the environment on this
node is shall we say a little unstable. We are investigating the possibility of
transfer to a more suitable home in order to provide a superior service to all
our customers.

Ref .2 - I really did know it didn't work that way, but I knew that kind of
comment would get someone to reply...:^)

ref .3 - I was hoping to borrow your wormhole to get over to Basingstoke for a
pint and still be back in time to get to work the day before...

171.5how many hours different?KERNEL::ROELMon Aug 12 1996 15:089

    Hi

Can someone please advise what the time difference in hours is,
between "Pacific Daylight Time" in the USA and our time here today,
which I think is still BST.

    Many thanks
    Lawrence

I don't know, but I guess that PDT has daylight saving on the same as
the rest of the USA. In which case, they should be 8 hours behind us.
