Could someone indicate the pub(s) in Basingstoke, within walking distance of the railroad station, that have "real ale" eg. Winter Royal. Thirsty, of Geneva, David

The best selection of real ale that I have found in B'stoke is The Mill ( Right next to the Ruins of Old Basing House ), but that isn't really within walking distance. Re "Winter Royal", this is only available in the winter. Sorry not to be of more help, Chris | |||||

Some people say that Bass is a pretty good pint... (well _I_ do ;-) )... and you can get a reasonable pint in The Hop Leaf. This pub is in the old part of town just south of the Malls near the Old Market Square. Reasonable lunches too. I have not tried any other pubs in Basingstoke town centre. Ray. |
