134.2Near the LidoVULCAN::WILLIAMSWed Apr 19 1989 16:344
It is situated next to the Lido and Ice Rink. I don't know what
the finished Leisure Park will contain in the future. If anyone
knows please post a note in here.

As far as I know the "something else" is to be a multi-screen
    cinema.

10 pin bowling alley due to open February.
Multi-screen cinema due to open in August.

A tender is to be put out for a nightclub, more like Lakeside rather
than Martines, to attract "top national acts".

    What's Lakeside ???

Presumably, "top national acts" is Keith Harris & Orville, The Barron
    Knights etc.

Lakeside is at Frimley Green, near Camberley and, yes, The Barron
Knights are very popular there! They do have some good stuff on
    there though.

I saw Jimmy Jones (?) there and he was quite good and Warren Mitchell
was brilliant (although the atmosphere could be cut with a knife
after he finished his Alf Garnett session and announced that, of
course, he didn't go along with a word Alf said! You are deep in
    the heart of Toryland there!).

If the bowling alley is opening in February (I assume _this_ Feb)
are they touting for business.... setting up leagues etc etc....?

    Anyone heard anything?

Just for the record, Lakeside is to Darts what the Hexagon is to
    Snooker .............

............ and if you've never heard of that, either, how about
    Jolleys and The Crucible.

Does anybody have info on the new multi-cinema complex, ie when
is it due to open, are they intending to show specific films
    at specific cinemas etc?

What about the new nightclub? Anything else scheduled?
