Tylney Park is a nine holer - never played it.
Park Prewett is a nine holer - not a bad course - the 5th is a real sod.
Tadley is a nine holer - nice course but watch the strategically
placed duck pond
Alton is a nine holer - good fun - but the 3rd and 4th span
a huge canyon !
Newbury is an eighteen holer - a short course, lots of par 3's
Basingstoke is an eighteen holer- never played it.
These are the nearest ones I know, but then I'm no expert.
Best of luck,
David L.
PS: If these aren't good enough, try the Digital Golf Society,
they get to some good courses (well at least they are before
we've played)

about ?
Also how late do they stay open (i.e. after work?) ?
Thanks,

| Hi,
I used to play pitch and putt last year, but all this year have been
playing on "normal" golf courses. However, I don't yet have a set of
clubs. I was wondering if anyone knew of some pitch and putt places
other than the one near Westfield Lido. This has suddenly been sign-
posted, meaning that the queues are much worse.
How difficult is the Park Prewitt golf course, and how do I get there?
Cheers.

>> How difficult is the Park Prewitt golf course, and how do I get there?
I don't think Park Prewitt is all that "difficult", although I've
never had a good round there (or anywhere else come to that). It
is good fun though. It isn't too hilly, though there is a couple
of slopes, the worst thing is that it is surrounded on three sides
by dense woods where old men lurk looking for lost golf balls. The
fifth is a par 5 that runs right along one edge of the wood and
although you take aim towards the mental asylum (on the fourth side),
the ball still goes in the woods.
To get there, follow the Tadley road from the Hilton Mercury, take
the third left (by the Ambulance station) and you can see the Golf
course on the right. Follow the right fork for about 250 yards and
the clubhouse is on the right.
The cost went up last year from 2.50 (any day of week) to 7.50
(weekend, weekdays with member). That's when we packed in playing
there.
Providing you're not too good (!), if you get stuck for a game,
give me a ring. There's a few people here in the TSC who like to
dig up a bit of turf on a weekend at different places in Hampshire.

| How about actually joining a club ? Are there any clubs without
massive waiting lists and extortionate subs in the area ?
If anyone fancies a hack, give me a shout!

130.10 | Recommend the BGC | DUSH02::JEFFERY | Why do birds suddenly appear? | Mon Apr 10 1989 22:32 | 18 |
| Well, I played three times at the "Basingstoke Golf Centre", read pitch
and putt course. Its a lot nicer than it was last year with a decent
golf shop, driving range, and a friendly looking professional offering
coaching.
The pitch and putt course is a little bit longer than most (Average
length about 100yards), and quite scenic. After playing on 9 hole
Municipal Golf courses, it seems quite tame, but still enjoyable, as
I'm not very good.
Anyway, my swing is getting better, so when I do a few birdies at
Basingstoke, then I will graduate to a proper golf course.
Anyway, the place charges only One Pound fifty, for a round with hire
of a 7 iron and putter. I can recommend it for anyone who wants an
enjoyable hour or two. We are certainly hooked!!
Mark.
