122.0. "Sheets of Foam required" by KERNEL::MENDELSOHN (Greg Mendelsohn UK VMS Support) Tue Mar 14 1989 17:32

Does anybody know where I can buy some sheets of foam in Basingstoke.

There used to be a shop next to St Micheals Church in town, but
I went there today, and it was being refitted.

    Any ideas,

    Greg Mendelsohn

    Greg,
I noticed some sheets of foam under the pillows and blankets
below Mr Langs desk, if you can get him off them he might sell them
    to you.

I also wanted some foam last week. As you did I went to the shop
near St Michael's with the same result.. However, I dropped into
the dance hire shop next door to ask if they knew where he had moved
to... Answer: Andover I think. However (again) The woman who runs
the dance shop still keeps in touch with the guy (who lives in Basingstoke)
She very kindly telephoned him for me there and then. I was able
to order the foam over the phone and he delivered it to my home
that evening. (He makes a very small delivery charge, though the
foam is fairly expensive) He will also drop it off at the dance
hire shop for you to collect it if you want him to.

Hope this sorts out your problem.

Thanks for the info Chris (and thanks for the mail also).

Actually I have found the shop. I asked around in Basingstoke, and
one fabric shop said that the only place they know of is in Aldershot.

So a few weeks ago, when coming back from London along the M3, I
diverted into Aldershot to look for it, and found it. Once there
and whilst waiting for the foam to be cut, I had a chat with the
owner. He said that the shop in Basingstoke was his as well but
due to hefty increase in rates he had to pull out to his other shop
in Basingstoke. He said that seeing as he lives in Basingstoke,
he can make deliveries on his way home.

The address and telephone number of the shop is:

                          Herberts Foam & Textiles,
                              10 Victoria Road,
                                  Aldershot,
                                  GU11 1JX.

                            tel: Aldershot 332838

    Hope this helps,

    Greg.
