115.0. "Hunny bees" by 45830::SAMANTHA (pazza per Perrier...) Fri Mar 03 1989 09:04

I'm have been trying to buy some honey made be "local" bees...
without success. The reason I want local honey is HAYFEVER!!!

I hate to remind fellow sufferers of the joys of summer that
await us, but I have been reliably informed that a spoonful of honey
from a local bee taken daily before the season starts can reduce
symptons considerably!!!

If anyone knows where around Basingstoke I can find some friendly
bees please reply...I'll let you know if it works.

115.1Try here for local honeyLARVAE::BARKERDo not fold, spindle or mutilateFri Mar 03 1989 09:5416
The pet shop in Pack Lane was selling honey made locally (in Kempshott
actually) I got the impression that this was from a local hobbyist & was about
1.50/pound.

I don't know if they still have some. Their address is
		Pack Lane Pets
		148 Pack Lane
		Kempshott
		Basingstoke
			Telephone 28033 & 28966

I've never heard of this particular Old Wife's Tale but it is actually
one that sounds a bit plausible as you could be desensitising yourself to local
pollen grains, possibly, well maybe. What the hell honey's nice anyway.

You might try "Wote St Health Food Store" in town, (Bas 64904)
"Basingstoke Health Food Centre,New Mkt Sq (Bas 28680)
    or
Tudor Farm Shop at Bramley (Bas 881351)
    or
There is a small farm just outside Hook, on the A30 going towards
Hartley Wintney. It's just past the roundabout for the "new" road
to Reading.Don't know the name or phone, but usually has a board
    outside,advertising Goat Milk,cream,honey etc.

    Hope this helps
    Brian.

As a regular customer I can assure you that the hunny is greeeEEEAAATT!
At the moment he is on holiday until 3rd April - suggest you contact
    him after that.

I was in Pack Lane Pets earlier today and noticed that they are selling
local honey again. The price has gone up though, it's 1.75/pound now.
